Itzel Alcérreca, a regional advisor on sustainable finance at GIZ, is renowned for her expertise in climate change and green transition projects across Latin America. With a fervent drive for enacting impactful actions and fostering policy dialogues, she strengthens coordination among project promoters, financial institutions, and multilateral organizations at the regional level. Her strategic planning and implementation of projects and regional platforms have established benchmarks in climate change and sustainable development for local governments throughout Latin America. Collaborating closely with the subnational government, federal government and international cooperation agencies, she has pioneered sustainable infrastructure financing mechanisms. Itzel's academic credentials include a chemistry degree and a master's in engineering with a specialization in Project Management from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
