Miriam Velasco currently heads programmes in the climate sector in Peru for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Her work focuses on supporting Peru’s climate strategy, particularly through the Peruvian-German Climate Alliance, with an emphasis on implementing national climate goals (NDCs) and mobilizing climate finance.
Over the years, she has held various roles in international and national cooperation, working across environmental policy, circular economy, and forest, water, and waste management in various regions including Germany, Latin America, and South West Asia and North Africa (SWANA). She holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Resource Management from the Technical University of Munich and studied Forest Management and Environment at the University of Freiburg.
