Sustainable Finance Learning Network for Development Finance Institutions

Description 

This initiative promotes knowledge exchange and capacity building among Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) across Brazil. Through technical assistance and training, it supports the advancement of sustainable finance practices and the dissemination of innovative financial instruments.

By combining training, technical support, and peer learning, the network aims to strengthen the National Development System, enabling DFIs to integrate and strengthen sustainable policies and practices that enhance their social and environmental impact.

Objectives of the Learning Network:

  • Disseminate sustainable finance concepts, regulation and application in sectoral practices of DFIs;
  • Promote the sharing and dissemination of good practices and solutions in sustainable finance among DFIs;
  • Support DFIs in implementing good practices or solutions in sustainable finance with technical assistance;
  • Strengthen the cooperation system and promote peer-to-peer exchange.

Format of the Learning Network:

  • Regular virtual meetings for training and exchange of experiences between participating DFIs
  • Technical assistance to DFIs to meet goals set by each DFI
  • Technical visits among peers to share and learn from good practices

Project context

The initiative is led by the Brazilian Development Association (ABDE) and implemented in the context of FiBraS II.

Target group

Development finance institutions.

Status

The first cycle, running until March 2026, involves 10 DFIs and focuses on sustainable finance solutions across the following sectors: bioeconomy, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and resilient urban infrastructure.
