Description
The project supports the Secretariat of the Peruvian-German Climate Alliance, which promotes political dialogue between Peru and Germany, as well as collaboration among civil society, the private sector, and academia to protect the climate and biodiversity. This work is important because ambitious adaptation and mitigation measures cannot be achieved without sufficient, well-directed financial resources.
A key challenge has been ensuring that adequate funding is available and effectively deployed to make concrete climate action possible. The project addresses this by strengthening cooperation between the ministries responsible for implementing Peru’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the private sector.
It also works to improve the regulatory framework so that both public and private capital can be mobilised for climate action. Additionally, the project advocates for integrating climate risk into investment decisions, ensuring that financial flows contribute to resilience and long-term sustainability.
Target Group
The project addresses representatives from the public and private sector, civil society and academia.
Status
The project began work in May 2024 and is commissioned until February 2027.
