Sustainable finance at GIZ
GIZ supports public authorities and private sector partners in the transformation to sustainable financial systems and practices. We do this by strengthening the capacity of professionals and institutions in two main areas:
- Strengthening policy and regulatory frameworks: We work with public authorities to embed sustainability in reform processes, policy frameworks, and financial regulation.

We believe in partnerships
GIZ works with public and private sector partners across the Global South. To maximise our impact, we cooperate with international bodies such as the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), the EU Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA), the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), and the IFC’s Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN). GIZ is keen to foster global knowledge exchange and peer learning and to disseminate sustainable solutions.
