As a service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education, we are dedicated to shaping a future worth living around the world.
For more than 30 years, capacity development has been one of the key services delivered by GIZ and its predecessors. Around the globe, we advise people and organisations on learning and change processes. The diverse expertise of GIZ as a German federal enterprise is in demand around the globe – from the German Government, European Union institutions, the United Nations, the private sector, and governments of other countries.
We work with businesses, civil society actors, and research institutions, fostering successful interaction between development policy and other policy fields and areas of activity. Our main commissioning party is the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Sustainable finance experts at GIZ

At GIZ, our sustainable finance experts provide advisory and capacity development services from both our headquarters in Germany and in our partner countries. Our main commissioning party
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is our main commissioning party. BMZ is responsible for German development policy within the federal government, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement provide a framework for its activities BMZ coordinates bilateral cooperation with partner countries worldwide and promotes strong multilateralism. Through respectful cooperation, BMZ aims to change national and global structures in ways that make a better life possible for everyone.
