Description
The objective of the global project, Sustainable Economic Transformation and Sustainable Finance, is to advance the transformation to a more sustainable economy and financial sector, grounded in international standards and global agendas.
To do this, the project implements activities in three main areas:
- Fostering global knowledge exchange and peer learning on the sustainable transformation of the economy and the financial sector,
- Supporting the development of policy and regulatory frameworks governing the transformation to a sustainable economy and financial sector in partner countries. This includes, for example, sustainable finance strategies, taxonomies, disclosure requirements, risk management frameworks, or standards for sustainable financial products, and
- Providing advisory services and technical assistance to embed sustainability in governance and in the financial decision-making of financial institutions.
The global project currently operates in Brazil, India, Peru, and Rwanda with additional country engagements in the pipeline.
The global project cooperates with a variety of international partners, including the European Commission, the IFC’s Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN), the International Sustainability Standards Board (IFRS Foundation), and the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI).
The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The global project receives co-financing from the European Commission as part of the Team Europe Initiative Sustainable Finance Advisory Hub.
