Description
SMEs, especially in developing and emerging countries, usually do not have the knowledge they need to conduct thorough climate-risk assessments and develop climate adaptation strategies. The Climate Expert Tool (CET) offers guided support for climate risk management and climate adaptation strategies. It was developed to support SMEs that want to analyse climate change-related risks and potential opportunities, and to facilitate the development of adaptation strategies tailored to their individual situation and priorities.
The approach was developed by GIZ and includes a five-step Excel-based assessment tool and a range of other training and support materials, such as a catalogue of adaptation measures, training material for Training of Consultants (ToC), case studies, and more.
Project context
The CET was developed by the GIZ project Private Sector Adaptation to Climate Change (PSACC), and knowledge partner Adelphi.
Target group
SMEs and development organisations and practitioners that want to implement climate change adaptation activities in their projects.
Status
The CET was initially published in 2016 and updated in 2022–23. It is currently being finalised for (re)publication.
