Angelika Frei-Oldenburg is cluster head of several projects working on sustainable economic transformation and financial system development, including the Sustainable Economic Transformation and Sustainable Finance Global Project. For more than three decades, Angelika has worked in management positions on economic and financial topics and built on her long-standing experience promoting financial and banking support and green finance in the public and private sectors. She worked for several years as an analyst, as well as department director for the mid-cap entrepreneurial sector at a European bank, building up its renewable energy portfolio in Germany. At GIZ, Angelika headed a project on private sector adaptation to climate change and adaptation finance. She gained much of her international work experience at GIZ, mainly in Africa and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, where she led private sector capacity development project for governments, especially ministries of finance, ministries of industry, central banks, and authorities working with small businesses, freelancers, and start-ups.
