Description
This virtual course is designed to build the capacity of local governments to design, implement, and evaluate climate finance projects at the subnational level. It is expected that the course will adapt and incorporate the content of the Climate Financing Guide for States in Mexico, its compendium of case studies of local climate actions in Mexico, as well as documents on current public health conditions.
The course is expected to strengthen the capacities of the more than 2,300 municipalities in Mexico to design projects capable of attracting climate financing and then implement mitigation and adaptation measures at the local level.
Project context
This course was originally developed by Mexico’s Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) and the Mexican-German Climate Change Alliance. A virtual course on climate finance is essential for building the capacity of different levels of government to design suitable climate projects and obtain climate funds to implement them. More than 1,300 people participated in the first iteration of the course.
Target group
The course is aimed at those responsible for designing and implementing climate projects within local governments.
Status
