Description
This course has been developed in Spanish by the Asociacion de Bancos de Mexico (ABM) and Consejo Mexicano de Finanzas Sostenibles (CMFS) with the support of the PRB (Principles of Responsible Banking) Academy, specifically for the Mexican financial landscape. It introduces participants to Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, navigating the complex regulatory landscapes surrounding the same to implement a responsible banking approach.
The course is presented in six modules:
Module 1: An Introduction to Responsible Banking and Sustainability
Module 2: ESG Factors and Materiality.
Module 3: ESG Regulatory Landscape Navigating global sustainability frameworks, standards, and regulations.
Module 4: Sustainable financial system.
Module 5: Responsible Banking.
Module 6: Climate and Social Risk Analysis
Project Context
Asociacion de Bancos de Mexico (ABM) and Consejo Mexicano de Finanzas Sostenibles, developed this course in collaboration with PRB Academy – an initiative by UNEP-FI, GIZ, and Chartered Banking Institute.
The training also received the kind sponsorship of FINACC and the UK PACT. Support for content development was provided by 30BY30 Zero, and GBAC Green Banking Academy, a knowledge and capacity-building initiative of the IFC’s Financial Institutions Group.
Target Groups
The course is aimed primarily at professionals in the banking sector in Mexico, including those working in lending, portfolio management and construction, product design, financial planning, accounting, risk, treasury, marketing, and front-line staff.
With the launch of Mexico's Sustainable Finance Taxonomy in 2023, and more and more banks disclosing ESG information, this training provides participants across the banking sector an overview of key initiatives, and how to adjust to emerging regulations and requirements.
