Gesa Schmidt is a junior advisor at giz, passionate about biodiversity and climate action, and transdisciplinary approaches to advance sustainable development globally and locally. She advises the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on climate risk finance and insurance and works on the implementation of biodiversity finance in the develoPPP Finance for Nature. Previously, she worked for the German Council for Sustainable Development, advising the Federal Chancellery on local sustainable development and the German Sustainability Strategy. She studied sustainability science, politics and geography in Lüneburg, Stockholm and Bonn.
