Description
The green credit product and digital platform under development by the Development Bank of Minas Gerais (BDMG) aim to facilitate access to financing for micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to make energy efficiency improvements.
The digital platform design provides MSMEs with information on the benefits of energy efficiency investments and suitable technologies and supports the credit application process. The digital design is considered a standardised and scalable solution for small businesses.
Project context
BDMG’s Digital Platform for Financing Energy Efficiency is one of five innovative green finance approaches that received support from the Technical Assistance Facility of the FiBraS I project under Component 3, which aims to improve the supply of green financial services and instruments in Brazil.
FiBraS I supported a market study to assess improvements to the green credit product and digital platform, provided assistance to implement new technological features of the digital platform, and supported the launch of the new product and a communication campaign.
Target group
MSMEs in the textile, metallurgy, food and beverage, non-metallic minerals, and chemicals sectors seeking to improve the energy efficiency of their processes.
Status
The technical assistance activities have been completed. The launch of the platform has been rescheduled.
