Shakira is an advisor in Sustainable and Nature Finance at GIZ where she focuses on two areas sustainable debt (Global project Sustainable Economic Transformation and Sustainable Finance) and promoting the financing of nature-based solutions (DeveloPPP project Finance for Nature). Prior to joining GIZ, she held various roles within commercial banking. In the department of sustainability compliance at Danske Bank, she focused on the operationalization of sustainable lending guidelines and the Green Finance Framework. Further, she monitored the implementation of sustainable finance regulations in banking products. She is an appointed expert at the technical committees for sustainable Finance and Biodiversity at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and serves as an external consultant specializing in climate resilience and climate adaptation within the European Commission’s Horizon Standardization Programme. She has overseen cross-functional projects and teams across Europe, Central and South America and Africa in various capacities including as a contractor, consultant and lead researcher. Shakira holds a Doctoral Degree in Law from Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg (Max Planck Research School alumni) and has certifications in Climate Adaptation Finance and ESG & Impact Investing from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
